I've read that most pros use 4 3/8 or smaller. Is there anyone who uses bigger than 4 3/8? The only case I know is Sampras who used 4 5/8.

The other one I know is Roddick who plays 4 1/2

its small fo rmore spin and easier wrist span. when the grip is smaller, your hand closes over it more and your elbow and wrist can really snap at it more. a lot of clay courters use small grips for that reaeson. also helps for power and spin on the serve.

McEnroe: 4-5/8; he stated as such in a magazine article.

So, generally speaking, pros who play with eastern (McEnroe, Sampras) or hit flatter use bigger grips, and western players (Federer, Nadal) use smaller.

I still can't believe these pros use such small grips. I mean most of these guys are pretty big. Roddick is a big guy and I would've thought he should be using something even bigger than 4 5/8. Federer should be using at least a 4 1/2, if not a 4 5/8. Am I missing something here? I don't have big hands and even I use a 4 1/2 plus an overgrip.
