I stopped watching TV around June 6. Man...I've been getting so much stuff done!!! I'm not saying TV is bad or good. But man...sure wastes a lot of our time. Ever just turn on the TV just to check the weather, and 5 hours later you wake up in a puddle of your own drool? On a side note, I've had a hard time sleeping, but after stopping the TV, I fall asleep easier. Love it!!!!

1)Do you watch TV?
2) Have you ever considered stopping TV watching?

2) Yes. I did briefly once for about six months when I lived in the mountains.

I essentially watch only documentaries and sporting events.
Sometimes I'll have old shows from 20 or 30 years ago or so on while I'm doing other things...

I don't watch any of today's dramas, comedies, or 'reality shows', as I find that they have reached a level of stupidity and irrelevance that even I could never have imagined.

You have not missed anything, summer is full of reruns during primetime, anyways. Though Warehouse 13 is pretty good. Then again there is always the DVR.

I stopped watching TV: much happier!!!

I stopped posting on this forum: much happier!!!

I only watch tennis, and occasionally some animal programs.

Often don't watch the telly for months. 2006: did not switch on telly at all.

I watch tennis regularly and The Simpsons occasionally. On average, I watch, say, three hours of television a week.

Three or four years ago, when in high school, I watched hours of television each day. Most of what I watched I didn’t enjoy, but, being intellectually uncurious and athletically incompetent, I couldn’t think of anything else to do.

I think the English Language Channel comes with your basic satellite package. Give it a shot.

Only watch Sundays during football season, grand slam tennis events, and pbs occasionally. I did go a few months without TV and internet completely a few years ago; got into great shape, peace of mind, and was much happier.

No. I didn't buy a TV when I moved to a new city 2 years ago. I don't miss it anymore and don't plan on buying one any time soon. Other more interesting and useful activities have taken its place.

If I need to watch documentaries or movies once in a while, the computer does the job.

1. Yes.
2. I watch some of my favorites like L&O, but mostly sports. I'll be watching even more because ESPN got partial rights to broadcast PREMIER LEAGUE :D:D:D:D

I love tv, but i realize it is a giant time waster. And I watch a lot crap. My wife and are were considering getting rid of cable, but we are too scared that we will be bored to death without broadcast tv (we might install an outdoor tv antenna just for broadcast tv).

1) yes

2) yes - we didn't have a tv at our summer cottage, by choice. Those 2 months without it were wonderful, lots more exercise, being outside and reading - but come back in the Fall and fall into the same old habits. You've given me something to think about - might be time to try your experiment - right after the US Open is over.

I stopped in 1992. The OP's comments are apt and on-target.

I mostly watch TV when I am on a cardio machine ~ so about 30 minutes 3 times a week. Usually I will only watch sports or news. I pretty much stopped watching sitcoms and or any regularly scheduled programs about 15 years ago.

So just stop watching the crap. Try new shows.
