Hey I been reading threads and threads about fake apdcs but i need some clarification before i actually buy this racquet. He is selling from New York.
http://www.freewebs.com/xnds/DSC_1793%20copy.jpg
Unfortunately it says aeropro control in the middle so I am thinking most likely its a fake.

http://www.freewebs.com/xnds/DSC_1289.JPG
But isn't the barcode and genuine sticker in the wrong place?

http://www.freewebs.com/xnds/DSC_1284.JPG
Ok and the grip size is in the wrong place. This is a definite fake right?

well the card is certainly suspicious, but the barcode is actually in the right place. The grip size sticker is also incorrect. Chances are it's a fake

i don't know if it is fake or not but i wouldn't buy a babolat from anyone other than a reputable place - like TW. too many fakes, very good fakes, to be certain of what you are getting these days.

FWIW, a few years ago, all the fakes were 4 1/4 grip size. not sure if that's the case now though

Well, I'd say, from what I can see, that it isn't a fake. The Babolat/Nadal picture on which is written Aeropro Control has been taken from a frame called Aeropro Control, which existed two or three years ago, I think. It's probably because the seller didn't have the Aeropro Drive picture that fits with the actual current APD. As for the barcode and genuine sticker, they are at the correct place, aren't they ?

I'd say it's a real one.

How much is it? If itīs under 100 $ new then maybe the alarm should buzz...

Well, first of all what does FWIW mean?
Secondly, fakes now are in many different grip sizes, but mostly 1/4. Where are you getting it from?

does it have a pro legacy sticker on it? is the barcode sticker covering anything it shouldn't be? if it is then odds are its a fake.

the insert is also wrong and as i recall, the color orange is used on babolat's 4 1/2 grips. i could be wrong on the color, but i'm pretty sure that blue is 3/8 and orange is 1/2.

this is correct. i just checked the grip cover on my new PDR i received last week. the 4 1/2 grip label is orange. unless, TW sold me a fake Babolat :)

Well, what's the asking price? Honestly, that alone could very well tell you if it's a fake or not, considering this is a brand new racquet he's selling...

So this is a definite fake?

at this point, i'm pretty sure its a fake. if you want, you can take off the plastic and overgrip and see what's under the grip. there should be a light colored pallet NOT black. there should also be a babolat sticker on the handle as well.

if you bought it using paypal, then i would suggest filing a claim.

BTW, how much did you pay for it?

Jtruong70

I haven't purchased it yet but he's offering refund and using paypal , but I just don't want to buy it and then return it and go through that hassle . He 's offering $100. Too good to be true?

just a bit, buy with caution.

if i were you, I'd pass on it. no point in trying to save some money and then have to go through the hassle of it all. better to go with something you know is legit.

If you look closely at the grommets, they are of very very poor quality, which is a huge sign for fakes.

I don't know what it is but recently we've had so many people posting about the same thing, hoping that they have found a deal. Save up and buy the real thing from TW.

Even if a photo looks ok, that's no guarantee that you'll end up getting a genuine racket. If the price is too good to be true, you'll end up with a racket different to the one in the photo.

That's true, it's hard to tell from a seller's photos whether it's a fake or not. He could just pull it off pictures from another person's shots of their real APDC. 100 seems to be a bit low for a racquet that normally goes for 180ish, if it were used then maybe, but it's brand new. Question to ask yourself here is, if you had a brand new, legit APDC that you wanted to sell, would you sell it for only 100 dollars?

based on my experiences with fake babolats over the years. things may have changed recently so fakes could be more than in L2 grip size.

and the fakes are getting much better now than they used to be. a few years ago you could easily tell. now it's not so easy

Hi,

I recently did an extensive review on a fake Babolat Aero Pro Drive (cortex version) and compared it with a genuine one. The differences and comparisons can be found here:

Hope this helps...

Hi regentville,

Read you blog, good data, what is amazing to me is that fake's producer are getting better right? good for them

Even looking similar, fake are head heavy, paintwork is similar, but grommets different, etc... the most important is the low quality material.

I was wondering if the regular buyer could realize if he/she getting this fake stuff; for sure buying for cheap in a non reputable store increase the chances

Question is... is a $50 discount worth the $100 price just to find that the frame is a fake.

If you had to ask, you already know the answer.
