Stand ainst a wall or a fence. Toss the ball really high and work on stopping it from dropping with your arm fully extended. In time, this will help you reach your maximum height and you'll stop netting or whatever it is you're doing that's "weird".

Can you record your serve so you can watch yourself to see what you're doing?

Just toss the ball up higher and go get it. Don't let the ball get low and to your side. If you hit it higher, you will also get a bigger kick if you are using a continental grip on your serve.

If you are getting good results and there are no forseeable physical problems from the biomechanics of your motion...continue to look weird when you serve.

Hello from another "old geezer" tennis player in KC. Saw several of your posts recently on the board. What club do you belong to?

Bally has racquet clubs?! As in Bally total fitness?

Yes, in Kansas City there are two Bally Total Fitness clubs that have attached Racquet Clubs. You can be a member of either the fitness club or the racquet club, or both if you have too much money.
