Looking for a racket for my wife, who is a beginner looking to get better. She is a smaill woman (5 ft. 1, 103 pounds), fairly athletic, wants a light and forgiving racket. Want either the Babolat PD Lite or PD 107..any thoughts on which would be more appropriate?

my suggestion is the PD Lite. The specs on both of them are about the same. The difference in headsize is probably one of the biggest factors, but if it were the main factor, then I think you would've made a decision already. The other factor would be the length. IMO its better to work with a regular length racquet as you improve and then switch to something longer if necessary. Most racquets on the market are 27 inches so it'd be more difficult going from 27.2 down instead of up.

I'd second the PD lite. That way she will have a frame that is easy to modify as her game progresses. She won't have to worry about adjusting from an OS to MP.

One more for the PD lite. IMO, there's no need for a 107 inch PD for someone who's fairly athletic and looking to improve their game. The PD lite will grow with her as her game develops so it's a great investment.

My wife also was comparing both racquets. She is about 5' 4" and 125 lbs. For what it is worth, she felt the 107 had too much power. However, she also felt that the PD Lite was too light and that she wanted a little more weight in the racquet. She has narrowed her search down to the regular PD and the APD.

I am going through the same exercise with my wife but I was between the PD Lite and the Head YOUTEK Radical Lite or Head YOUTEK Speed Lite. Any thoughts on those?

thanks all. was originally thinking of the 107, but have changed my mind to the Lite. PD Lite it is. The standard length of the Lite made my decision.

My wife also compared the two head racquets you mentioned to the PD Lite. The Radical Lite OS was more powerful than the Lite and hard to control whereas the Speed Lite, in my wife's opinion, lacked enough power. Of these three racquets, she greatly preferred the PD Lite.

My wife is using a Puredrive Team (circa 2005 , 310g / 10.6oz).

Would the PD Lite be the natural replacement?

either the pd lite or the regular pd, depending on which one she gets more comfortable with. the pd team is kind of in the middle of the two, so you can go either way.
