View Full Version : Racquets with 14 mains

Last night I broke a string and grabbed a prince graphite 2 out of my bag.
At times I have a few different frames in my bag.
Anyway, it was kind of a shock. I soon noticed I could hit out on everything because the frame helps produce some heavy top spin if you make a little effort to go that route. I was teeing off on returns and most everything and the ball was diving in.
It's not my style game but I do hit that way on occasion and never with
so much room for error.

The pg2 is stiff for me but has it has a very open string bed and is fun to play with.
Maybe I could use it with gut at a lower tension, who knows but
14 mains should be used in more mp racquets.

I used to play with that racket in college. Great memories. Nice racket for big servers. Solid feel at the baseline and it could produce ridiculous amounts of spin, but strings wouldn't last very long so I wouldn't put natural gut in it. I was pretty much stringing at least a racket a day - good thing with the 14 mains and open pattern it only took like 20 minutes to do each one.

I think the Head i 12 has only 14 mains. Probably not what you're looking for though.

Back in the days, PK made MANY, I mean MANY frames with 14 mains. They also made several frames for Prince as well.

To name a few:

some PK Graphite Comp series
some PK Graphite Innovator series...

I'm sure there are others.

I have a Pro Kennex Graphite Targa 90.

I cannot find anything on this racquet.

So far, the weight is 11.68oz (I measured it), and 14x18 pattern.

Yea, I have a POG Mid and the spin potential is really crazy. That racquet feels like butter in general.
