Simply put.. maybe you should get more confidence in your backhand; seeing as how you've been playing 9 months, which isn't a long time when it comes to tennis, you should definitely work on the backhand as it's generally the weaker of the two sides. Also, it may not seem really bad now, but later on, I think it can be detrimental to your game; I'd just keep hitting to your backhand, but not real wide so you run around it and then whip one cross court.

I used to do this, just need to be more alert / less lazy, also learn to drive with your legs more so you can thrust yourself in the air to handle higher shots more comfortable and learn to take your racquet back at the appropriate height. You can get away with this in doubles, but in singles you need to be agressive on your backhand side or your opponent will destroy it.
Offensive slices work great when your opponent hits to your backhand with pace, you can slice back with just as much pace... but if you can drive the shot back and send a message to them. Two handed backhanders love hitting hard to one handers as most of the lesser skilled players have a "2HBH superiority complex". Learn to blow them off the court by driving the ball with your legs and body.
