View Full Version : PS 6.6 tour classic 85, probably need to switch but to what?

I'm having issues finding a replacement for these. I'm down to my last 2 and they are getting pretty worn out. I know common sense says stick with these but they are hard to find and getting too expensive to replace the grommets.

I used ps 6.1 hyper for a few months. I liked having a bit more power but the control wasn't there like the old sticks and my tennis elbow flared up. I switched back to my 6.6's after that and everything was fine.

The Prince EXO Ignite felt the most natural to switch to but it still wasn't quite there. I'll probably end up playing with this a few more times.

I didn't find anything in the current Wilson line that felt like a natural switch. Fed's racket didn't agree with me, the rest of the 6.1 line wasn't quite there. I see they have a Sampras model out but I have not played with it yet. Hopefully I'll get to do that this weekend.

Has anyone else who has played with the 6.6's for a long time found something that worked for them when they switched? I'd like to find a stick that feels like it's a natural switch.

well, the obvious choices are the K90 and the Kprostaff 88. Similar frames, but a tiny bit bigger headsize. I love the K88, i've seriously never liked a racquet so much as that one. Give them both a try though, the K90 is a bit more "user friendly" with a lower sw and a headlight balance.

K88 feels like an old wilson stick, just demo'd it today. I have a stack of old wilson 85s and can attest to its old school wilson graphite feel. Give it a try, it feels like a bigger frame to me in my hands though - more like a 90 to 93. But full swinging shots stayed in court and felt very complete with this frame.

the dunlop 200 also has a solid feel like the pro staff

I'll check the dunlop and the graphite out.

Gino, these rackets are aweful and people should stop buying them. They play nothing like the vincents, the graphics are horrible, they use archaic technology, and they are just no good to hit with because Jim Courier only used them one time in a tournament, and he got made fun of b/c of the stars and stripes....... They have a bit more flex. That is mainly what I notice when getting an old PS 85 out and comparing.

This weekend we got into the closet and brought out a bunch of our old frames and hit with them just for fun. We had the old db synergy's with the string dampner built in (3 of them), prince graphite classics, a few of the old prostaffs, a wilson profile, and some others. It was fun. I still like hitting with the synergy a lot. Still trying to figure out what happened to the midplus lightnings.

I also hit with the k88 today. I didn't have enough time with it to form an opinion.
