I've owned and spent a fair amount of time with the C10 Pro (one of my favourite frames ever) and the BB11 mid (which I also rate very highly.) And I've very recently got the PB10 mid and the DNX10 mid also (this one has really impressed me with its responsiveness from the b-line.)

If I was asked to explain the appeal of these Volkl's, well, I suppose it boils down to the combination of solidness, a certain flex and string-bed feel, great maneuverability, wonderful balance, topspin friendly performance, and excellent comfort.

Anyway, ridiculously underrated and even maligned frames that imo deserve much more in the way of praise and kudos... so I suppose you should include me too then!

The t10mp is one of those irreplaceable racquets. Earlier this year I was looking to replace it with something similar but a little lighter. It may have been you and/or others that said finding a similar racquet would be a tough task. Instead of replacing it, I ended up having the grip reduced from 1/2 to 3/8 and restrung with 17g. Now I'm more attached than ever. I can't think of a more forgiving players frame.

Has my primary frame now got a serious rival I wonder?...

I've been hitting with the DNX 10 mid that I finally managed to get hold of recently and I've got to admit I'm really pretty impressed thus far.

Lots of pop (for a lower stiffness RA than many others.) Fantastic response and general b-line performance (deadly off the bh side, nice spin and angles off the fh.) Solid and stable. Not slow and heavy to maneuver (like some reports I'd heard) and swings fast imo. Interesting feel... basically, I'm already close to declaring I prefer it to the C10 Pro and BB11 mid (both of which I liked a lot.)

Should be taking it out for a far more testing hit or 2 next week and then 'll really know where I stand with this frame.

Any other DNX 10 mid fans here?

sorry for the late answer. I really like the PB8 but i have not tried the Becker Pro. I guess that they play very similar. I actually have compared the PB8 to other similar type of frames, like the AG500T 4d, PDGT, PDC and to me the PB8 won. second the AG500t4d, third the PDGT.

Yep, same here. :( I've used the Tour 8s since they came out. I demo racquets all the time and always stick with my 8s. I think the PD+ is probably the best and closest thing I've found to a replacement but just can't get over the thick beam. It really feels like swinging a club compared to the thinner, straight-beam frame of the Tour 8s.

One frame I'm gonna try is the new Tecnifibre Speedflex 300 (nice specs but not extended length) and if I don't like it then I'm going to stick with my 8s for a while- which may not be such a bad thing.

No. I only find C10 feel soft. Tour 9 is extremely stiff & crisp, by compasion. Tour 8 is very springy in feel and effect. There is nothing buttery about DNX 10. It's all different for each of their racquets.

They feel like drawn butter over a 6oz. cold-water lobster tail. The Beckers feel like I Can't Believe It's Not Butter and Prince with O-ports feel like Margarine.

What kind of question is this? Didn't you claim Volkl as the best-ever rackets in the Favorite Racquet Brand poll thread?

Just tested V-1 powerbridge. Awsome racket. great serving racket like the Babolat. but feels different,,,more Soft and Buttery. Nice power but not overwhelming power. Surprisingly good at the net.
Only weakness is it isn't as spin friendly as Yonex RQIS series. but then very few rackets are....:)

I think it is the dense string pattern in the middle. It looks like Wilson string pattern almost. I think most rackets aren't as spin friendly as Yonex RQIS frames. they are known for the spins, made for spin doctors. No pun intended, of course.
The beam isn't as thick as you think, but does have pretty good power. The Control was Excellent,,, better than the Yonex RQIS tour-2 frames i use for doubles, for sure.
Volleys were surprisingly solid. I could stick the volleys with lots of power without swinging at all, with just a punch.....

I recall the V1 classic as a very solid racquet compared to any others, but in its own weight range it was nothing less than outstanding. Without peer really. I love the way it can absorb pace defensively or use it to my advantage in transition. I imagine the PB is no less solid. Imagine - A natural extension of your arm. Improved!:)

Don't get me wrong. the stick has some pretty good power. I especially noticed on the serves. Some of my serves were really popping and Heavy. and i was getting it in consistantly. and very accurate. My partner wanted to do Aussie formation but the guy forgot to crouch down. but i just hit my serve anyway up the middle and i got it in with the ball passing by his head by 2 inches........LOL:)

I was only heaping additional praise onto all things V1.

I left the original V1 b/c I couldn't serve well with it, but that was 4-5 years ago. Hearing the PB V1 is a big server is making me more eager to demo. Now I bet I could make it smoke (relative to my average serving ).

You can go either way. If you use a softer string, increasing tension will make if feel firmer and give you more control. I went from poly at 54 to gut at 61 and gut by far and away is a better performer with regard to my arm. Poly has more control, but way less power and feel. I feel spin production is better with gut.

As far as Volkl compared to Yonex, and I am a fan of Yonex products, I haven't played with any racquet that spins the ball as well as the Volkl Cat 8, V-8, C9, or C10 any and all Yonexes included. From my standpoint, the earlier R-series Yonex frames were the ultimate spin friendly frames.

It isn't like the Yonex at all.

cc

Ahh, well that is too bad. I read that it is buttery smooth. The yonex is certainly also buttery.

I think the yonex is a little stiffer than the PB10mid. I have both and played with both and the RDX 500 mid is a little stiffer.

The PB10 is a point and shoot type racket. It's pretty easy to get around, serves pretty big, volley's very easily. As I recall the RDX500 mid is not quite that racket. But it's ages since I hit a ball with it so I may be wrong.

Don't let one bad racquet choice sully the whole brand. Volkl made some really fine player's frames.

I guess I could join this club. I had a contract with them for a couple of years and have played, and enjoyed, many different models over the years. Below is a pic of my Comps.

Dude, you must have extra rooms or a big garage!

I've been playing with Volkl since '93, and if I kept all of my 6-plus frames per model, without selling some of them, I would have a pro shop, and not an apartment. Plus, I'd be divorced.

hmmm, some of you have an amazing number of racquets, eh?

We have 4 Volks in our house (well, 8 actually, but 4 of them are snow skis!)

my 17 year old daughter has 2 Tour 10s (she hits BIG) and, in a classic example of horses for courses, my tall but slight 11 year old has...DNX 4s!

Well, they work for him...

0d1n,

Off-topic - but I know this is where you hang out. By chance, do you know anything about Alin Pop? He is head of tennis at a nearby club and I see he's from Romania and went to school in Cluj-Napoca. If you know of him, what kind of head tennis professional do you think he might be? I'm thinking of joining his club - that's why I ask.

Nope, I wasn't born in Cluj Napoca, I just studied here and remained here after finishing the University.
He probably left for the States before I arrived in the city :).
Found this -> http://www.obparks.org/racquet/ about it...interesting...
I guess the best you can do is try it to see for yourself.

I'm only using the rubber bands when poly is involved :). Especially now when it's winter and the cold does weird things to string beds.
Not really using one when I have more responsive strings.

Makes sense. I've never used poly in my T10. One of these days I'll put some Cyclone in it.

Based on reading on TW and some demos I took the plunge and got a
C10 Pro and a Organix 10.

I'm having a racquet shoot out with them against a couple of arm friendly Pro Kennex offerings.

I love the look and quality feel of the Volkl racquets.

I just need more time to hit with them now.

I'm in also. Play with 2 V1 Pro's but also carry an Super G 8 (300). Cyclone tour 17 full bed in one, and X-One Biophase 16/Genesis Black Magic in the other V1 Pro because I am always mindful of potential arm problems. My 13 year old likes the Super G 8, but she feels alone in the Babalot dominated club where we play.
