It was only a few days ago many of us were groaning, "Just give Serena and Roger the trophy already". Then Serena got her butt kicked by an unusually focused Kim, lost her temper, got docked a point and lost in the semis; then Federer got his butt kicked by an unusually focused Del Potro, lost his temper at the chair umpire, and then lost his nerve in the fifth set giving a first-time slam finalist his first big win.

So how much did you enjoy watching all of that?

All the drama of the final week was definitely good for the tournament. I still think it would have been more entertaining to see a Federer/Nadal final, but I can't complain about what I saw last night.

Clijsters was a good story, but she won by default (both literally and figuratively) and doesn't have that exciting aura that makes a player worth watching. Serena's outburst was the bigger story.

I'd say that Federer, Serena and Melanie Oudin saved the US Open.

Yup. Very refreshing.
