The Journal reports today that "no doubt" an enhanced Hawk Eye system will be in place at the USO by next year, which will allow players to challenge foot fault calls.

That would be awesome. Perhaps, the lines-people will only call them, in the future, when players are flagrantly in violation of the rule.

Then only Federer will be unhappy (as he tends to question the accuracy of Hawkeye).

Seriously though, Hawkeye is accurate to within 3mm or 4mm if I remember correctly. In Serena's case, Hawkeye would not have helped (because if she did footfault it was by the tiniest of margins).

That would be awesome. Perhaps the opponents would now be able to challenge if the linespeople fail to call the minor ones.

I don't think it will work that way.

I wouldn't be surprised if a modified form of the "Cyclops" technology used at Wimbledon was put in place.

Same Asian lady, with thicker glasses and a T-shirt that reads "Enhanced Hawkeye!" :)

P.S. Back of T-shirt says: "Asians don't eat tennis balls"

BTW, if you are JustBob, then shouldn't you be just Bob?

Maybe. That might explain why I'm often confused. :)

Hawkeye is accurate IF all the conditions are right for it. However, the wind is a condition that can affect it by moving the cameras as they are collecting their data.

As for foot faults, it will be interesting to see if they will do what so many of you are proposing - turn it off for critical points.

Why would they turn it off? At no point in the game should anything be above the rules.

Awesome news. Most foot fault calls are an effing joke.
