We've all been talking about Federer's decline, Nadal's injuries, the rise of Delpo and others...perhaps this is a good time to gauge this forum's general opinion about the near future of men's tennis.

So, who's going to shine in 2010?

hopefully roddick will win a few majors.

I honestly think it will be Nadal. If not, Federer. After those two it's a toss up.

The question isn't, "Which player would you like to win the most majors?" Yes, there will be some who interpret it that way, but that's just the nature of virtually every player poll on this site.

I picked "Other", guessing that none would win more than one.

4 different players can win a slam in which case it is nobody. Or even 2 different players win 2 each. Those should have been options in the poll too. In fact it is arguably more likely than someone winning more than everyone else.

Donald Young will win the CYGS.

I went with Fed, he makes the finals so just doing that alone will give him an advantage.

We are due for 4 different slam winners, so that is what I think will happen.

How many people were writing Federer off early after Wimbledon 08 ? What about Australian Open 09 ?

He then proceeded to win the next 2 slams. As far as I'm concerned, this was Federer's year. Completed the career slam, got married, had twins.

There is no reason to assume that he won't win a slam or two next year. Hell, he might even get 3-4 slams. Not saying that it definitely will happen but if the past is anything to go by, I think that his chances are good.

If he works on his serve, especially his serve, I think it will be a cracker of a year. Congratulations to Del Potro for winning a grand slam.

Now if he gets beaten by Federer or Nadal at the Australian Open in a similar fashion as before (ie smashed to hell) or doesn't make semi's or quarter finals in the rest of the slams then we'll know whether he was simply a streaky player or a one shot danger player.

My predictions will be that Nadal wins the French. Federer wins the US Open and Wimbledon. I have a feeling that someone else will win the Australian Open. Perhaps Murray, heaven forbid.

Sorry man but Roddick has only a very outside shot of ever winning another slam. This years Wimbledon is probably as close as he will get again.

Yeah, he should have won in straight sets at wimbledon against fed. I'm actually still gutted for the guy.

Having said that i admire the fact that he has been knocked to the floor by federer so many times and has came back stronger - so i'm not gonna give up, as i said - that would make a crap fan.

Just vote for the player you think has the best chance of winning the most. There's no point in voting "nobody." If I expanded the poll to include options such as "Tie between Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray," "Tie between Federer, Djokovic, Murray, and del Potro," and "Tie between Federer and Nadal," we'd have 20-30 choices. It is what it is.

Put me in the 4 different winners category.

If I had to guess I'll say we'll see:

Federer
Murray
Soderling
Del Potro

I don't know, call me crazy but I believe in 2010, Federer and Nadal will regain their stranglehold on the tour, with two slams split for each player, Federer will win Wimbledon and regain his US while Nadal will defend his Aus Open and regain his french.

roddick will r-a-p-e the tour next season.

You mean Roddick will get r-a-p-e-d next season ? I would agree.

I don't think they ever lost it.

2004 - Federer wins 3 slams, Nadal wins none
2005 - Federer 2, Nadal 1
2006 - Federer 3, Nadal 1
2007 - Federer 3, Nadal 1
2008 - Nadal 2, Federer 1
2009 - Federer 2, Nadal 1

Pretty consistent dominance if you ask me. What's different about this year is the unpredictability of each event. Federer can win on clay now; likewise, Nadal can win on grass and hard courts.

If Roddick would swallow his pride and hire Gilbert again he'd have a shot.

Federer is gonna be busy with the twins, he's just got the calendar slam so there won't be too much motivation for him left. (Or not, who knows.) I just don't think Federer will win as many slams as he usually does.

Nadal will win most of the slams IF he is not injured. If he was, then Del Potro, Roddick, Murray or Djokovic will dominate the year.
