Anyone know where there are some walk-on clay courts in California relatively close to the bay? I'm trying to get down...

Are there any carpet courts around as well?

This info would be greatly appreciated :D

There's a private club in Dublin that has a red-clay court next to a carpeted one. Members only.
Then there's the Indian Springs Resort in Calistoga with a beat-up Har Tru court. You have to stay there ($175 on up) to play.
Then there's the Aptos Beach Inn south of Santa Cruz. 2 Har Tru courts and a beat-up grass one. Again, you have to stay there ($200 on up).
Me? I either fly to Palm Springs or Florida for the clay....

I'd love to know about anything like this in the SF Bay Area. Hard courts are fine, ultimately its the game itself that matters most, but I'd love to experience different surfaces when the opportunity arises.

the Olympic Club (SF/Daly City border) has har-tru (green clay) courts. however, since it's a private club, probably can't get access unless you're a member there or know someone who is. I hear you'd have to go to Carmel for some real clay action..

The Beach and Tennis Club at Pebble Beach has 2 clay courts, but I'm pretty sure it's members-only. It's right alongside the 17th fairway at Pebble's famed golf course (only $495 to play 18 holes).
The Carmel Valley Ranch has 2 clay courts---it's also a pricey resort, but cheaper than Pebble. I doubt if you can walk on and pay to play without booking a room there.
