I've seen Roddick use it, and people around me use it but I've never really tried or paid to much attention to it. (Using a rubber band as a vibration dampener, shock absorber/dampener, etc.)
Currently I use a Head vibration dampener, and I was thinking about how much more cost effect it would be to use a rubber band. What are the differences in an actual brand dampener and a rubber band, and the pros and con? Also, what kind of rubber band, like thickness and length should be used. Oh, and how should you tie it for it to be used effectively?
Thanks for any help.

It works better than any other kinds of absorbers (may work too well), it is cheap and it will never come off, Use a regular strength rubber band (about 3 inches long)
this page shows you how to tie it:
The link wont work...go to www.************.com click "learn" then "rookies and pros" then it is an article on the right side

Rubber band is better than the store bought.. Just the right amount of dampening... I used to just tie it ... thanks Salman for the site! :)

You can tie it anyway you like...tie 2 mains and the bottom cross (some ppl only tie the mains) together and you will be fine, try it see what way works for you.

you know whats funny... I emailed tenniswarehouse a while back asking them what shock absorber Roddick uses cuz i couldn't quite tell from pictures. They told me that Babolat had informed them that he used a babolat made shock absorber and gave me the link, i think they were just trying to make some money, lol..
What is the lateral size of the band? Is it the one's around 1/4 inch or those around 1,5 mm wide (to wrap money)? I couldn't tell by the pictures.

i think a rubber band works a lot better because i felt with any store bought vibration dampeners it was taking to much power away from my game like it was working to well so i switched to a rubber band and my game improved a little. Also try not using any vibration dampener at all.
