Watching Soderling this evening (against Hanescu), I noticed that his forehand has a kind of muffled thud that suggests he doesn't hit the ball square. Of course he has a really unorthodox forehand, so maybe that explains it. Querrey's backhand also has a kind of thwack that makes it sound like he doesn't hit it as cleanly as his forehand. Watching Monfils right now, his forehand has a great ping.

So am I just imagining this? Has anyone else noticed that Querrey's backhand and Soderling's forehand make funny noises?

Yeah I noticed Soderling's racket kind of had like a metal sound to it at the French.
