Ok, so my first videos showed that my serve..... sucks. I switched my grip to continental, worked on shoulder rotation, etc. Today was semi-nice so I decided to take more vids today. Feel free to offer advice and stuff. Note: my second video of the kick/topspin serve is what I want to turn into an eventually second serve, so try and help make that into a kick serve :P

Oh god that is some bad form. falling back is exactly what you shouldn't be doing. also you twist your body waaaayy to much on the wind up which is why your falling backwards. but other than that, you still need a lot of work.

So how much should I turn on the wind-up?

I'm trying to brush across the ball then snap down on it. Not really trying to rotate into the ball, just getting the hang of motion.

You should really try to stand still en be in full balance.
You aren't because your 'throw up'(don't know if that's english) move is way too long and also out of balance.
You start with your move on the right side of your body, then you take it to the left side of your body and then upwards.
But you should try to start at your left side and from there upwards.
You also pull the ball over your head in your 'throw-up move', so you hit the ball behind your body during first and second serve.
You should try to hold it as much as possible in front of you and at your left side!!

As i said because of you are not in balance and because you pull the ball over your head, you are falling backwards.

When you are falling backwards you cannot really hit through the ball.
This means can not have the speed you want in your first serve, and you can not have enough spin and kick in your second.

For now, this is your main problem in my opinion...

Good luck with working on it and i hope to see some good results in your next video!;-)

FYB has the best videos. Try to simplify your motion the way Will suggests. No falling over or swinging hard.

Work on directing your energy upwards into the ball.

Excuse my trophy pose in this and copy federer's trophy pose

I kinda changed mine pose to this which seems to help my serve.

I never noticed I was doing that wrong. Also, thanks for that diagram Cody.

Yes yes, it's all about balance, and that starts right from the beginning of every move you make.
Maybe look some vids of federer or other pro's, then you can visualize it.
They all start at the point from where they only have to lift their arms up..

Don't listen to these trolls. Your serve is excellent, nice and fluid.
My only suggestion here to toss the ball alittle lower, just a foot above your head should do.

Didn't he asked for some advice and tips?
If he has that excellent, nice and fluid services, why would he then ask for it? Maybe because he is struglling with it..
So i don't understand why you call the people who give them some useful tips trolls??

My advice to you is just to keep your mouth next time if you haven't anything useful to say

Don't be an a**hole; I've never had a coach in my life and I'm trying to do this all by myself.

You shouldn't lay back your wrist before you start your forward swing. It looks like you're trying to "scratch your back" and you're losing all the elasticity in your wrist. This is why your serve looks like a bit of a slapping motion. Look at Cody's post and see how Federer's racquet is pointed straight up towards the sky.

You are not that far off.

But you are not pushing your right hip out enough as you go into your trophy pose. Pushing that hip our will help you drop your rear shoulder, as it will give you better balance.

Check out this video: http://www.fuzzyyellowballs.com/video-tennis-lessons/serve/advanced-serve-technique/leading-with-your-hip-when-serving/

Then in your forward swing you are falling off to the side.
Listent to the "Serve Doctor" from the Bollitieri camp to learn how to serve "up the mountain" as if you were trying to throw a ball high up into the sky to get a better forward motion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlPVdppfYGs&feature=related

Thanks for the video.

Ok, today I got out and enjoyed the nice 60 degree weather and tried out your tips. I put in each little tip one by one until I felt comfortable with the motion. I tried to get in 10 out of 100 serves. I got in 4. :???: The majority of my serves hit the net, but were only a couple inches short (I was painting the netcord.) Any tips on how to get a tiny bit more elevation?

That grip still looks pretty eastern to me.

I used an Eastern on the kick/topspin motion. My first flat serve is a conti.
