I nominate Delpo (obviously), Tursunov, Berdych, Korolev, and Gulbis.

I left Blake out because his backhand is certainly not even in the top 20, so he doesn't really qualify. Monfils hits large but he plays defensive too often to really be a big hitter.

I'll take Gulbis out and put in Soderling.

Gulbis, generates power with no effort from both wings.

His backhand is gorgeous, that's for sure. I saw him practicing with Gabashvili and no matter what the pace, Gulbis could always hit the backhand back with more pace. The forehand was a different matter entirely . . .

What about Soderling and Gonzales?

See post 2 . . . I took out Gulbis and put in Soderling. Gonzo is like Blake . . . his backhand disqualifies him.

Right now I would say the list goes like this:
1. DP
2. Soderling
3-5. A lot of flat hitters on both sides that aren't very consistent.

You forgot all about Fernando Verdasco!

Yes, because of his consistency is lacking on one side.

Overall? Del Potro, Verdasco, Gulbis, Cilic, and 1 of Djokovic, Tursunov, or Korolev. I think Cilic could easily be the hardest hitter in the game today.

His serve needs some work though, for a guy that tall he should be cracking 130s easily.

True. I think his serve will improve though. Off the ground he is vicious. He was even outhitting Del Potro in their matches this year but Del Potro was just too consistent over the course of the whole match for Cilic.

Soderling is definitely the hardest hitter on tour.

Soderling is in the top 5 for sure.

I also thought Berdych was a very hard hitter, I saw him at Wimbledon though and was a bit disappointed.

Blake can hit 100 mph backhands.

Nadal has been proven to be the biggest hitter of all time . Nadals shots are hit with more RPMs than any player has ever hit before.

when i saw cilic at wimbledon, the impression i got was that he was hitting his serves with a huge amount of spin, a really, really heavy serve, which meant a lot of energy going into rotating the ball and not as much into securing MPH. it was against querrey and he was serving flatter. of course, querrey can do so because he's so tall, but he was a good guy to have at the other end when trying to judge why cilic's serve looked so huge but scored comparatively low on the speed gun.

i've seen the source... although highest RPM does not automatically equate to hardest hitter....

There are many....just google Nadal and RPMs....but here's on that shows Nadal hits the ball with a record breaking 500 RPMs

I don't know if it's been posted (sorry if it has). But here it goes anyway.
