For men of this... stature, they don't pay them for the sex. They pay them to go away afterward and not blog about it or scream it from the mountaintops.

No, that law makes makes sense.

Remember, if you punished BOTH parties, then NEITHER would ever be able to tell the police.

Also, the prostitutes are usually the victims of the transaction - being forced into that situation out of desperation and taken advantage of. It makes no sense to punish the victim as well.

I agree. They should ban the prostitutes from ATP for at least a year.

why you think that the prostitutes in this case went to the police??I seriously doubt it.Of course they are these poor women are the first victims here,no doubt. But for this to stop they should punish or in a way make them stop from doing it again, and not just let them free back to the houses. And of course interrogate and make further investigations so as to punish the people behind the system too,the real criminals here.I think that should be the way to go.

gulbis should have told the swedish policemen that he was only going to make a swedish sex film with those women and they would have to let him go.

pls correct me if i am wrong but i don't think porn actors are prosecuted anywhere in the western world. they would even get paid for their time :)

If there is demand for something, someone will supply it. Making either side illegal only drives it underground. No civilisation has ever been able to eradicate prostitution entirely. IMO, better to legalise it and make sure both sides stay healthy and clean.

In Australia prostitution is legal. There are laws such that the prostutute cannot operate within a certain distance of places like a school or church.

To say prostitutes are victims or being taken advantage of is patronising and paternalistic.

Women who travel for sex: Sun, sea and gigolos

The men are young, gorgeous and up for it. No wonder Western women see a Third World holiday as the gateway to casual sex - sometimes in exchange for cash. But as a new film highlights female sex tourism, Liz Hoggard asks who really pays the price

Sunday, 9 July 2006

An attractive woman sips a cocktail under a bamboo shade. The sand is dazzlingly white, the sea aquamarine. A handsome young man approaches her and showers her with compliments: she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, he says. For the first time in years, she truly believes she is desirable.

But this holiday romance is not all it seems. The woman is white, in her late 50s; the man, black, 18 - and paid for his attentions. The scene - from the controversial new French film, Heading South, which opened this weekend, starring Charlotte Rampli.......

Prostitution in Nevada is only legal in licensed brothels. 8 out of Nevada's 16 counties have active brothels. Prostitution is NOT legal in Las Vegas.
Guess the only other state that has some legal prostitution? Rhode Island!

Non-issue. This is a private matter between Gulbis and the prostitute, and is none of anyone else's business; anymore than are the numerous other reasons for why people sleep together (which are sometimes thinly veiled forms of prostitution). Prostitution is simply a more blunt form of other associations, physical or emotional: two parties associate because each considers it beneficial to themselves.
