Well, I did a 09 thread so I said I might aswell do one for 2010. Didnt see one already, apologies if there is.

Aussie Open - Roger Federer
Roland Garros - Rafael Nadal
Wimbledon - Roger Federer
US Open - Undecided

I think Roger will win Australia simply because he has stated that regaining the Australian Open is a big goal for him next season.

Roland Garros - Rafael Nadal (The king of clay will be back)
Wimbledon - Roger Federer (Fed will want his 7th one)
US Open - Novak Djokovic (Like in Murray's case, it's been a long time coming losing to Fed 3 years in a row, it's his time next year).

So roddick's gonna outlast both Rafael and Roger huh? Bold prediction indeed but a valid one nonetheless. If roddick manages to get through to another gRand slam final then he'll have to produ e tennis greater even that that of this year and I personally don't see roddick producing tennis any greater than that again

Yup either that or Roger will cruise to Wimbledon title number 7 in my opinion.

Possible calendar slam? Come on man, be serious. Nadal is making it deep into tournaments on his worst surface. I wouldn't write him off. I still think RG is his to lose.

Just because I think Federer is a strong contender for all 4 slams next year does not mean I believe he will win the Grand Slam. He clearly isnt dominant enough anymore to have a real shot of doing that, however he also has a pretty good shot at each of the 4 slams IMO and could well win 2 or even 3 of them. Nadal could win the French, but I dont think you will see anything like 2008 ever again. As for Nadal's current results on his worst surface, yes he is reaching late rounds but he is being completely thumped by the first quality opponent playing well he runs into in them all the same. While he didnt always win on faster surfaces even at his career peak in 2008, that is still a far cry from then. Obviously that wouldnt happen on clay, but even on clay I dont see total dominance again considering he already looks to have lost something. I would also be surprised if Nadal wins any slam outside possibly the French next year.

Come on man, Monfils is a more than legitimate hard court player and it only took Nadal four sets to take him down.

it's interesting that people have murray and roddick winning a slam in 2010. i would love to see them do it, but imho, think that it's going to be federer and nadal who will be the only guys capable of winning the slams next year unless you have an upset like del porto.

At the moment I wouldnt say Nadal is one of the only two capable of winning next year, it's very possible he will get back to winning ways but he's had a few problems this year. Djokovic is playing well again, Roddick has shown he can't be written off just yet, Murray has the game to do it, del Potro has improved no end.. Nadal will need to pray his body holds up and get back to playing his best tennis again, it's getting tougher.

What are Monfils's achievements on hard courts. 1 or 2 round of 16s in slams? No he is not a legitimate top hard court player. The only surface he is a semi top player is on clay.

AO - Djokovic d. Murray
FO - del Potro d. Nadal
W - Federer d. Hewitt
USO - Federer d. Murray

Federer continues on his SF streak, but misses two finals because of two great performances respectively by Djokovic@AO and del Potro@FO.

del Potro plays impressive tennis at the French and manages to defeat Nadal in the final. Nadal begins fading after this, due to a combination of factors including some injuries, shattered confidence and being owned by del Potro.

Meanwhile, Hewitt crawls his way back to the top 10 with good results highlighted by a great run at Wimbledon, but Fed brings his A+ game in the final.

Murray's hopes of a slam win are revived by a good showing at the AO, where he beats Nadal in the semis in an epic 5-setter. But he's still a bit short in the final against a '08 form Djokovic. He performs poorly at the French and Wimbledon, where he is wiped off the court by future finalist Hewitt. Consequently, nobody gives him any real chance at the USO yet he gets to the final where he loses a close match to a very solid Fed.

...yeah I'm being imaginative today...

If you are Roger, you should be telling yoursef there are only couple of guys in his way for a Grand Slam now. With Nadal almost no contender for AO(at least thats what I think) there is only Delpo and Djoker.
Delpo will have up and downs in his career. I picked him for AO and then I suspect he goes down, major wise.

If someone does Rodge a favor, say Soderling, and takes care of Djoker, and if Murray takes care of Delpo then Rodge gets to a good start at AO and could go on to give your prediction a chance.

Blinkism will probably be proved wrong as I just can't see Djoker in his current form have any shot at Wimby. Anaconda's prediction actually has a good chance, this might be the yr Roddick takes Wimby and hopefully by USO, the Djoker will have ironed out his serve issues!
