View Full Version : Pain on Hop After Serve?

I land on my right foot after my service motion, and although I don't feel anything at all on that day, the next day I feel absolutely horrid. After my crosscountry track workout (the day after), I felt a crippling pain shooting up behind my knee. It's persisted since yesterday, and I'm afraid it might prolong. I've had this pain before, though.

Is this only because I'm not landing correctly? Should I land on my entire foot (heel to toe), land on the balls of my feet, or just bend my knees more to resist shock? ...or do I simply have a weak right leg?

Are you left handed? Because as a righty I feel I land on my left foot. As I got back into tennis I noticed that behind my left knee was troublesome from serving. I think I strained tendons or some such joy.

Although I think it was more due to rotational torque rather than my hefty self flying through the air and crashing back to earth.

Being a member of several message boards I've learned to screen out most of the drivel that passes for sigs. Now I see that your proper leg is hurting so you are perhaps suffering what I am.

Do you have an injury, like medial or lateral tendon strains?
How long has this been affecting your tennis serve landings?
There's a whole buncha tendons and ligaments which attach your knee together, and any ONE strained, sprained, or twisted can affect your load bearing.
