My friend Nam-My took pictures for a section of the school newspaper on a "how-to-serve" He asked me to be the demonstrator and I agreed.

Here is a sequence of pictures, what do you think is wrong in my serve
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/4528/sexytennis.png (http://img97.imageshack.us/i/sexytennis.png/)

Here is also another picture that I edited with 3 red lines, I feel my trophy position is flawed because my shoulders are at an extreme angle and my body is not upright it is leaning, also my foot is not directly behind the other.

Do you agree with my analyzation? Why or why not? Thanks

I do agree because i used to do that too, and my coach said it was wrong. I forgot the explanation though.

Also, Frame/Photo # 6 looks a little off, i'm not really too good at analyzing serves.

You don't remember what he said at all?

Well, it was something about it making you lose power(or was it consistency?), but i cant back in up with any evidence..it was almost a year ago.

Dude, don't over analyze your serve like they do in golf with all those crazy red lines. You have a pretty good service motion.
I would be worried if you serve like this.

You guys shouldn't make jokes about that guy. I think it's great that he's getting out and playing tennis with his condition.

Damn turrets syndrome.

Picture 5 doesn't look to good. it seems as if it will strike the frame.
At impact your body should be more upright

What is your Rating?
Is Service the weak part of your game?

Compare, for example with Joachim Johansson

http://www.tennis.com/yourgame/instructionarticles/serve/serve.aspx?id=586

I note that between your pictures 2 and 3, your shoulders are rotating, which may cause your toss to wander. Compare with Johansson's shoulder angle that does not move.

I think this is indicative of your toss and contact point being too far back.

I also think that your are bending too much at the knee (thereby working a lot with any extra benefit)

I also agree in your 5, your body is leaning into the court. I suspect that your kenetic chain is off, such that your torso extension and rotation are slightly too early. Try to delay so that torso rotation and extension occur at contact, so that energy goes into the ball.
Because of your lean (at the waist) in 5, in 7 you are kicking back your left leg so you don't fall over, meaning that you are putting energy away from the ball.

Too bad there is not another shot between 4 and 5 - so we could better see the sequencing of the swing.

good knee bend and explosion, Only pic I have issue with is pic 5, you're bending way too much at the waist.

So basically don't rotate too early and don't bend at the waist so much, correct?

I thought you might not be heating at maximum height on pic 5.

You could try to go up for the ball more.

I am not an expert, it looks like your serve is pretty fluid.

It might be better to actually upload a video along with it.

actually your trophy position is GREAT. you are coiled to go into the hit , your chest angle(limbo position) is what you want. you are pointed UP to hit the ball. buy this dvd by pat dougherty the "serve doctor" at bollittieri http://www.servedoctor.com/ also check out this thread on the serve

in number 6 it appears as though the ball is up too high i proportion to your arm... maybe you should wait and hit lower?

There is a lot of analyzation of turrets in this thread :)

the photos look fine and you seem to have decent form. But that is all moot if the ball is out, there is no pace, or you lack consistency on the 2nd serve.

A video would be better.

Relax before the motion, then as you start the motion and forward swing, you can add energy and muscle. Tensing up before the trophy is a waste of energy and tightens up your motion.
