How do I use the "Watch this topic for replies" button? Is it going to send me an email or is there a way to get it to work like the old "Check Messages" button on the old board?

I'm starting to get used to this new board and I know you are working hard to improve on things that some of us have complained about. For me, the "check messages" feature is essential since it allowed me to subscribe to a thread and then just watch for the replies next time I log in. It would also keep track of which messages I had read so the 1st message I would see was always a new one. This meant I didn't have to look for the new messages like I have to now.

Allowing us to select a default font size and color would be great too. And an option to view the threads by date instead of by most recent post is another one that I would really suggest you add to this board.

You don't have to view all posts.. if you click on the little yellow paper you'll go to the first unread post.

thanks verbal, i saw that little flag now, it makes things a little easier, but it's still no way as easy as it was in the old board, you still have to search through the messages to look for the yellow paper now...

you can click on the paper before you are 'inside' the topic, this will lead you to the first new post (most of the time :S)

And at the highest level of the forum, you can choose to "View posts since last visit" which will list all the posts since you last logged in.

Once again thanks verbal, I see you are much more familiar with this type of format than I am.

Amarone, yes I saw that option, but it lists ALL posts since my last visit and not just the ones I want to keep track of. I still can't figure out how the "watch topic for replies" button works. Seems to me the paper new message thingie behaves the same way whether or not I select that option.

Sorry, but that 'little yellow paper' thing doesn't work properly. There is no consistency to it whatsoever. In the 'Rants & Raves' section alone, it listed about 10 threads with yellow papers - meaning they contained posts that I'd not seen. Fine, it was accurate. But the yellow papers were replaced by the white (empty) papers at about the 10th thread - meaning that I've seen all the posts in those threads. Yet, when I look at the date/time of the last post in the thread, I see that it is WELL AFTER I logged off the last time. And I've not opened those threads this time - so there are posts that I've not seen in those threads, yet no yellow paper appears beside them. So I wouldn't recommend anyone rely on the yellow papers to be accurate. And there we have one of the most highly touted features of this new board not even being able to function as advertized.

I think this entire new board is a 'paint job'. It's a Yugo dressed up as a Cadillac.
