You are smoking crack if you think headcase Safina will win a slam next year or probably ever, particularly the French with Henin back. Anyway my choices.

AO: Clijsters (second choice Serena)
FO: Henin (second choice Clijsters)
WIM: Henin (second choice Venus)
UO: Dementieva (second choice Serena)

Mine are:

Australian Open- Clijsters
French Open- Henin
Wimbledon- Serena
U.S Open- Serena or Henin

I also concur the sheer thought of Safina winning a slam next year with Henin and Clijsters back, and her own game and mind going further down the drain, is comical. I would bet $1000 on it not happening or more. I honestly dont think she will ever win a slam in fact.

Players that have better chances to win a slam next year than Safina would be:

Serena
Henin
Venus
Clijsters
Dementieva
Wozniacki
Azarenka
Kuznetsova
Sharapova
Jankovic

at the very least.

I just hope she does. Picking a two time finalist to win isn't THAT weird.

I expect Serena to eat a couple.

I'll guess
AO: Dementieva (if she starts playing like earlier last year, shes bound to pick one up. She put Serena under a lot more pressure than Venus, and this is a better surface for her.)
FO: Henin (if she starts playing like her earlier career)
W: A Williams, probably Serena.
US: Probably Serena.

Anyway, these days women's Tennis is a crapshoot because of all of the random packing it in, er parity. It'll be nice to look back and realize we're all idiots. Who really cares, it is women's tennis after all.

On another note, do bookies take periods into account?

you have Serena over Clijsters at the USO? Guess you didn't see this year 2009 USO semifinal, where Clijsters destroyed her.

Australian - Clijsters
French - Flavia Pennetta
Wimbledon - Justine Henin(yep she is back and I expect her passion for capturing this one to be on level with Fed's capture of the French).
U.S. Open - Justine Henin(rolling)

Clijsters outplayed Serena on that day yes. However Serena can obviously play better than she did in that match, and Clijsters is by no means certain to duplicate her caliber of tennis from that day either. I like Kim and I will be happy for her if she wins more slams. However people forget how long it took her to win only 1 slam, and that now at age 26 she still only has 2 thus far. Winning slams has never exactly been a regular occurence for her. Also since that great U.S Open triumph she has played only one tournament and lost early in that. For those who criticize Serena as being a so called part time player, Clijsters in her second career looks like she really plans to take the cake in that. It wont be easy to just show up for a couple tournaments every few months and continue to win slams if that is her plan.

Flavia? Really? I like Flavia, but I don't see that one happening.
