He says it was a great year, got to number two ranking and was "unlucky" because of wrist injury, which is obviously nonsense. He got to #2 because he was lucky Nadal got injured. Soon as Rafa came back he went back to where he deserved.

Also he did not improve his ranking against top players such as Rodge, he lost the last two, so that was another nonsense.

Still won more matches and tournaments than anyone else. OK he didnt improve his GS status. It was a good year the fact that he went to number 2 and back is just the way the points are.
His wrist injury as laid him low for a couple of months which has affected his points tally and is nowhere near as serious as Nadals agreed but no need to have a go.
If he gets more agressive (which i dont think he will) he will make no1 and have a few GS under his belt.

He always mentions that time off: "I was a bit unlucky picking up a wrist injury straight after and I missed the best part of nine weeks of tournaments."

Federer had exactly the same amount of time off, from the Davis cup through until Basel.

It cost him the chance to defend 1000 ranking points.

He sure had a nice year! We should all be admiring the way he made his first GS final at USO 08 and then started 09 by beating Rog and Nadal several times consecutively. It will be interesting to see who out of the bunch has best results early on in '10!

That's why Murray thinks those are the best nine weeks of tournaments :)

murrays 2010 targets should be to try to make it to a 2nd slam final and not get thrashed like he did in the first.

Vladimir Makarov is probably at the top of the list :)

Yeah, but Murray trashing should be greenlit, big time. The kid is a terrible puke. Even his brother doesn't like him. He has no guts. His second serve is worse than Jelena Jankovic's...

I'd respect him if actively tried to win some points.

How is it nonsense? In that time he lost 1000 points he could have defended otherwise and stayed world number 3 instead of finishing the year in danger of losing spot number 4.

Great Season for him! Like Goran said, he needs to improve his 2nd serve. I dont know why theres so much hate on him right now.. He's very emotional on the court and I like that. Why do you people care so much about his personal life? This Guy deserves some credit, maybe not for his personality but for his skills. Hopefully he can win a slam in 2010. Bye haters =)

Yeah, think that the word on Murray is just that, second serve is too easy to attack, plain slow, not enough spin on the ball. beefing that up will take the pressure off.

He likes the heat and needs to play a solid Oz Open...if he does that then he can carry this momentum all the way to RG and Wimbledon.

He did a lot of "door-knocking" in 2009, in 2010 he should kick the door open!

In retrospect and despite being a federer fan, it's nice that delpo won the USO. It's nice because he and murray hate each other and both cite the USO as their favorite slam. Further, Murray was tipped to win it for two years, yet delpo comes in and embarrasses him.

I'm glad DelPo won his Slam before Murray too...DelPo's game is so much more entertaining!

He has to win a slam soon. Pushers don't win slams after 25... His biological clock is ticking...
