We all know that string jobs a expensive in the US. But how about the rest of the world. Let's put it in us dolars, so it's easier to compare, just the string job, no strings.
I'll start..........

Bolivia us$ 2.83 (can it get cheaper than that?)

I always bring my own strings, and have a deal with a GREAT stringer, so I can have 3 reels of strings kept at his shop (Xcel Power, Tornado and Hyperion)

I pay him €10 pr. stringjob = $15

Most tennis shops asks $18 - $20 for a stringjob, where you bring your own strings.

Well in Portugal, big chains like Decathlon are the easiest to find and they charge between 4 to 5€ for the job. That is more or less 6,5 to 7,5$. Little stores at Clubs might ask sometimes a little tad more. Nevertheless, good luck in Portugal to find good stringers!!! That is why I started to string for myself. I believe it would be very hard for someone to survive nowadays with those kind of prices just for stringing. Even if ofering a superior job the idea I get is that 99% of players are recreational ones, playing once or twice a week. So not only they couldn´t care less about the stringing job, they also do not understand a damn thingh about it. Of course there are exceptions but mostly just run for the cheaper price and I guess that is why there isn´t any professionalism in the service offered.
Just to give you an idea, even before I started stringing I would talk to those stringers of particulars patterns and precautions and they didn´t have a clue of what I was talking about. That is a very scary picture when you are trusting them your beloved and rare frames:shock:
So I believe overall this explains the cheap price. Cheap price=cheap service

Yep, been down that road - wasn't impressed. Having said that, I think it's "possible" to get a good string job done at Dick's provided the stringer is experienced, knows what he/she's doing, and takes the time to do a job correctly. They just don't seem to put much emphasis on tennis. From what I can tell the people who string for Dick's are given a crash course and turned loose on the customers.

Solid MD

Also depends on the shop or guy you leave your racquet to.

For example, (in Chile), it costs 8$ a stringjob (along with additional 8$ in case you are also buying the string) in my nearest shop.

But in an official Babolat shop it costs 4$, but the string costs a lot more tan usual (20$ PHT for example)

Augh...!!!! These prices amaze me. I was always under the interpretation that we were pretty cheap here in the US due to the popularity of tennis. I remember seeing a MG Prestige for 250 EURO over the summer in Italy. My friend's eyes practically bugged when I told him I had 5 of them =P I assumed stringing would be the same

I charge anywhere from 10.00 for synthetic gut strung, ~10.00 for labor if strings are provided, to 45.00 for gut/ gut hybrids. The club where I work charges 32.00 for Prince Duraflex and 84.00+tax? for VS

I usually get the sythetic gut job. That's $35 Fiji dollars for a synthetic gut with free stringing in Fiji, thats $17.50 USD. I think labour is $10 if own strings are provided.

So badly want my own stringing machine

Yes Co. Meath, just on the border with Dublin.

Dunboyne Tennis Club is very very small. Only has 4 outdoor courts, a practice wall and a (new) 2 floor club house. Due to the weather I have not been able to play in ages. I went down to play on the snow yesterday juts for a bit of craic.

Castleknock Tennis Club will be the main tennis club in the area. It has 8/10 outdoor courts and 3 indoor courts. I wouldnt mind joing in but people are pretty pretentious in Castleknock plus I do not know anyone there.

What is it like in Cork? What is your club like?

I live in a small village 12 miles from Cork city. Tiny club, 3 astroturf courts but there's almost always a court free. A couple of miles away there's a club with 6 courts and the main club would be Sunday's Well in the city which has 7+ courts ( don'y actually know). What surface are your courts in Meath? Astroturf, acrylic?

The wether has put the brakes on me too. Hit on Stephen's day to try out my new stick but you only really get an hour or two after the thaw before the courts start to compact again and the balls wont bounce. Funny, I also tried to play on a thick layer of soft frost (almost like snow) before Christmas. Lucky for me one of the courts was exposed to the sun and I got two hours of play.

Do you play outside your club at all in tournements?

The 4 courts are astroturf. Pretty much every court in Dublin is astroturf.

I have not played proper tennis in almost 3 weeks!

I play for Dunboyne in every single Dublin league, winter league, summer league, mixed doubles league and floodlight league. Then during the summer I play the major tournaments in Dublin. Last year I also played a tournament in Galways and one at the Belfast Boat Club.

What is the competitive tennis like in Cork? Do you play much outside the club?

By the way, this is me yesterday.

Weak! I'm only getting about 4-8 racquets a week from the people I play with.
Gearing up with some inexpensive string and lots of business cards and flyers to hit up the local schools.
I have a full time job but like to string so I want to get this going and maybe get some other people involved in the business.

I'm hoping to do well in the singles tournament the weekend of the 15th so I can get some credit around here.

Been tempted to try some poly for the tournament instead of my usual syn gut.
I use a HPS 6.1 strung with gosen at 59 and my second HPS is VS gut at 62 and Gosen crosses at 60 but the gut has too much power for me lately
Anyone use Syn gut mains and Poly crosses. Maybe Ill try the gosen mains at 59 and Black code crosses at 55?

vietnam... shops make good enough profit from selling rackets/shoes/apparel that stringjobs are sort of an added service
I also found a shop that sells AND strings luxilon BBOR for $10... they imported a few hundred too many sets, and turned out people here doesn't like it that much (breaks arms, suddenly cannot keep shots in after the 2 hour mark...) lol.
