Hello,

Roddick currently uses a 100 sq in (Babolat) racquet.

Do you think if he used a smaller head racquet, would he produce the same type of serve? A smaller racquet head like the ncode tour 90 or rdx mid 90.

Thanks

Roddick has so much power on his serve somewhat because he has one of the most powerfull raquets out there. Well you can kind of tell about smaller head sizes serving hard because just look at Joachim Johnsen. He uses my raquet. (rdx-500 Mid)

I think if you give him a wood racket from 1960s he would still be able to hit it at 130+... it just his rackethead speed is phenomenal.

Roddick does use a powerful stick, and that is part of the power generation process, but it's a pretty minor part.

With a less powerful bat, he loses a couple mph on average, and his top end comes down a tad, but that's about it.

pretty much agreed that roddick could boom it with outdated equipment...

Imagine his serve if he used a POG LB!! That racquet is the ultimate serving stick.

could roddick hit it harder with a full gut strinbg job?

current racquet: PD with Poly/gut at 29,5 Kgs (100 sq)
outdated: Wooden Racket strung with gut at about 20 Kgs (70 sq inch)

about same weigt and balance string pattern density would be about the same (racket head is 70 % of current stick, string tension is 66 % of current tension)

This means that his serves would be the about the same speed, but he would fire off a bomb fewer times
