This is entirely subjective.

I hate ALU Power, but hundreds of other people love it. Makes no difference to say what's good or bad.

I agree with Kenny above and wonder the same. I will admit Forten Competition Nylon can feel mushy in a full job, but for the price you really can't complain. Where the Forten really shines is when hybrided with a moderately stiff to stiff Poly. Many have used Forten Nylon with stuff like Gosen Polylon Ice. I've tried Forten Nylon 16 (for the cross strings) hybrided with UATennis Super Polyester 17 (Generic) and it feels really crispy and very close to a full job of standard synthetic gut.

But yeah, this question really can't be answered as everyone has different tastes. I'd say the crappiest string I remember using was some thick 15 gauge beige Nylon, think it was Klipper brand.

Technifibre Promix - absolutely terrible, cut it out the same day played with it

Ashaway Liberty - had high hopes but played very boardy

Premium Blue Star - a nightmare to string and plays even worse

Gamma synguts - a truly mediocre line of strings; you have to pay me to play with them

OK, just as I thought. Anyone that likes just about any poly will hate Hollow Core. They are polar opposites. For example, I love Hollow Core and hate polys. Hollow Core is soft as a pillow while poly feels as stiff as barbed wire to me.

I was a strict poly user for over a year, and have now switched to full syn gut. But the only poly worth mentioning (out of all the Poly I've tried) is Cyber Blue. (It was as soft as some of the stiffest/cheapest syn gut, with just as much power/elasticity, but with extra spin/control.) You just have to string it a few lbs lower than your normal full syn gut setup. Hmph, and the only reason stopping me from going back is the fact that they only last 4-6 hours before dying. (Since I use $2 syn gut that lasts nearly twice as long, it's hard to consider going back to all that.)

Sounds like you didn't really like poly all that much after all if there is only one poly "worth mentioning". Sounds to me like you're more of a nylon syn gut man.

And I agree. Full $2 syn gut beats almost all other set-ups, and definitely beats any poly, full or hybrid, for me. :)

At the time, I loved poly for the strokes I had. Luxilon/Babolat/Technifibre/Topsin came in at the top. But after commiting/making the switch, I found myself more in love with feel/easy power, rather than going all out on every shot. And IMO, Poly is for the player that loves to hit beyond what synthetic gut is capable of, and the extra spin/control is just a by-product which lands everything shorter. Ask J011y about his Kevlar/Poly setup.

From the strings I've tried I didn't like Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour and Luxilon ALU Rough. I felt the hurricane tour had no power and the Luxilon ALU Rough is just what the name suggests, rough. It has no power and its tough on the arm. The one benefit of Rough is that it's very control oriented but too control oriented for my liking.

Another vote for Gosen Polylon 16. I can't find anything good to say about it. Not even worth the $2.50/set price. Very small window of playability since it needs 10-15 minutes to break in, then you have about an hour to an hour and a half before it dies. During that time it seems to have all the characteristics of a bad poly and none of the good. Then when it dies, it really dies. Feels like the tension drops off a cliff. Unfortunately this usually happens at a bad time - e.g. if you start with a freshly strung racket, it will die late in the second set or just as you are starting a third set. Switching rackets every set isn't a solution because then you have to deal with breaking in the strings for the first game or two of the set.

Somewhat agree. A full bed of sensation is garbage. As a cross string in a poly hybrid its OK - not the best, but not the worst either (compared to synguts and multis in the price range).

I agree, I couldnt stand MSV.

I'm another one who didn't like MSV Hex. Strung a full bed at 55lbs on my RDX500 MP - felt as stiff as a board, with next to no feel at all. It just felt so 'plastic'.

It was really unpredictable and you never knew how the ball would come off the strings. For no peceived reason, hard swung shots wouldn't make it past the service line while simple blocks would fly metres long.

Horrible.
