I am in the month #4 of my quest to switch from 2HBH to 1HBH, and I need to decide whether or not the continue with 1HBH switch or just go back to 2HBH.

I switched because my pro said I may be smoother with 1HBH. My 2HBH follow throughs were inconsistent and made my stroke mechanical and abrupt. But it was a powerful stroke and fairly dependable. I also had a 1HBH slice which I used for defensive purposes when I got pulled wide.

My 1HBH (topspin) is very much work in-progress. I feel like my stroke is getting smoother, but I am having a hard time hitting it consistently. I am probably only hitting it successfully 50 to 75% of the time, and far worse if the ball is high and hard.

I can't hit it nearly as hard as my 2HBH without it sailing long and my elbows hurt when I hit 1HBH (probably some bad form I have somewhere).

How long should I continue with this experiment? Is my elbow trying to tell me something? I am just not sure what I should do...

Gameboy, I am playing around with going to a 1hbh. But for me it is the opposite. I have a lot more power on the 1hbh. I just don’t have any consistency (about 45 to 50 %) I have a ok 2hbh with a strong fh. And the 1hbh is stronger (more pace)then my fh…I have worked on it off and on for about 1 month now and I was wondering if i will ever get used to hitting it(feels very awkward) , so I am looking forward to the replies…

OP: I think you should stick with what you do better and feel more comfortable with. In my opinion, I see both adv and disadv from 1hbh and 2hbh. If I were you I would stick with my 2hbh and try to improve it. Your biggest problem now is the elbow hurt and you know if it hurts you can't play either 1hbh or 2hbh.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm a 1hbh by the way :)

I think you are the same guy and I have the same advice (I hope),
which is go back to twohander and have a great serve rtn advantage.
Mk sure you have a nice one hand slice Bh too.
