At the moment... for me its NRG or x-one but these are
still a bit pricy in the uk. What else is on the market.
Head Rip control seems to play differently to different people.
Is there any unsung heroes in the string market??

Prince's Premier with Softflex.

I found this one to be excellent. Amazingly I got even better results with Prince Premier Softflex main and Forten Sweet natural as a cross. For a combined cost of only $7 this has to be the poor mans gut alternative winner.

My current setup is Pacific Classic gut main and Forten Sweet natural cross and it beats the playability of any all multi in my opinion. For $15 this is the lowest cost string setup that does not compromise on court performance of any string I have tried regardless of price. All Babolat VS is the benchmark, but I do not get any better results when using it verses my $15 gut hybrid.
