Hi,
I can't seem to get the racket head 'square' to the ball on contact, I have a semi-wetern grip which is close to a full western. I have loop backswing. What can I do to get the racket head square when it hits the ball?
Thanks in advance for any help at all.

Well, which direction are you off? If your racket face is too closed (facing the ground) when you hit, then you need to make contact more in front of the body. If it's too open, then you're hitting too far out in front. With a western grip, you generally want to be hitting the ball at least a foot or so in front of your body to make the racket square at impact.
An easy way to check your lineup for this is to stand with the fence or net in front of you, do a slow motion swing, and see at what point the racket head become perpendicular to the ground. That's your perfect contact point. Move closer or further from the fence until you're lining up squarely with the fence. Make a note of the distance in front of your body that the lineup happens.
The more eastern your grip, the further back toward your body the lineup gets. If you hit a continental forehand (think MacEnroe and Graf), the contact point is right next to the body.
Hope this helps.
