Hello. I own the base model Klippermate drop weight stringer. (Around $100) (Two point clamping and floating clamps) I've used it for about 5 years stringing just my own rackets and I think it is a great stringer. It takes me about 35 minutes to string a racket.

My question is...if I wanted to upgrade to a better stringer, what would be the next step up? Is there something I could use that could drop my stringing time down to about 20 minutes with the same or better tension consistency?

My understanding is that unless I buy a very expense high-end stringer, a mid-range one ($300-$600) wouldn't really give me much more benefit. Any opinions?

Also, does anyone like those pathfinder awls that supposedly make it easier to string through a hole covered by another string?

to increase your stringing speed that much you would need to look at an electronic machine..... I know a fixed clamp drop weight is not going to get you down to 20 minutes..... a fixed clamp crank may reduce your time some but I don't think it will cut it in half....

Yeah, I moved from a Klippermate to an Alpha Apex II & it didn't cut down my time that much. It's more of a pleasure to use & it's something that I'll probably have for the rest of my life, but if you're just stringing for yourself & your heart's not set on upgrading, the Klippermate is fine.
