I just switched again to the 2 handed backhand and my main problem with it was that I felt like I was slapping the ball 40% of the time. This led to a lot of short balls falling into the service box, turning into sitters. I want a more clean stroke for the 2HBH.

Oh and I switched from the 1HBH because I was too wristy and inconsistent with it. Hope it's worth it.

You might be pulling across too early or trying to swing too fast. Slow down and hit thru the ball.

And watch this guy. He's pretty good.

Use more arms, less wrists?
And if you know your shots land short, why not clear the net with more margin, so the ball lands deeper?

In this video of Andre... I notice that he does what many guys do on their forehand. He takes his racquet back so far... and just when he's ready to hit the ball... he relaxes his wrists so the racquet snaps back even further and then heads forward... adding more racquet head speed to the stroke.

In the video... his racquet is pulled back and completely still at :26 seconds. Then, right before striking the ball, at :28, the racquet goes back (rotates around) another 4-6" before heading forward and striking the ball.

Another great example of it occurring is at 1:45-1:49

What is the term for this?

Make sure you're really hitting through the ball and not pulling away too soon. Another thing is to make sure you're making a full body turn and using your body in the shot, not just arming the ball.

Ugh I hate my lack of wrist control so much. For some reason I've gotten into the habit of using my wrist too much on my backhand side (my slices, volleys, groundstrokes). I can't control the ball when I just slap it though :(.
