You dropped a bowl... it shattered prior to striking the sink/floor and you cut your hand trying to catch it? :-?
Please clarify.

Obv. hit the ground and smashed just before he could catch it.

That's an awfully large and deep wound, based on the story.

I feel your pain, said I in an Arkansas drawl while biting my lower lip.
I did the same the thing around Thanksgiving. I was washing a glass, it fell off the counter. Using my cat-like reflexes, I trapped it against a drawer instead of letting it hit the ground. Bad move!
Of course, the glass shattered and one of the shards went into the palm of my hand causing a 1" long, gaping wound. After shouting a string of choice expletives and bleeding profusely for a time, I realized that I suffered a serious laceration. A month later, the cut is finally healed and I have a nice 1" scar for my trouble. Hurt like a biatch for a couple of weeks and my hand was pretty swollen for a while. I didn't get stitches but probably should have. I used super glue instead. Stitches are for whimps. ;o)
The moral of the story is let the glass, or bowl, fall. I wish I had. And I have a new found appreciation for plastic cups ever since.

no, it didn't hit the ground.
it fell onto the edge of the sink, and i was moving my hands down to try and catch it before it hit, it shattered, and because my hands were moving downwards the sharp edge drove into my hand.
i was really surprised it shattered from the maybe 5-inch fall.

Did you get stitches? If not, try some Crazy Glue followed after maybe five days by Poly and call me in the morning.

Put copious amounts of Vaseline petroleum jelly in your right palm to stave off the risk of infection. And hey, while you're at it......

yeah, i went to the emergency room and got 3 stitches. it was my first time getting stitches. i didn't know they had to stick the needle in the cut, that hurt like a b***h.

Good. I would still keep it covered and use Poly.
