Just looked at the new Wilson BLX bags and I'm disappointed to see that they've gone with the strap design that Babolat, Head, and numerous other companies are using. I'm talking about the dual straps on the top of the bags--essentially two shoulder straps and not real backpack straps.

As far as I can tell, the only bags with backpack straps on the underside are Dunlop, ProKennex, and Pacific. Technifibre has that VO2 bag with straps on the top, but at least those are well-padded real backpack straps.

I hate this trend toward dual shoulder straps.

What trend? Tennis bags have been using two large straps for years. I'm not sure I get the difference between the shoulder straps and backpack straps

I actually prefer the straps on the top of the bag so when you wear it as a backpack after putting the bag on the ground, you don't get the dirt on your back. With that said, I think Tecnifibre seems to have it the best, combining what looks like well padded straps placed on top of the bag.

I agree with having the straps on top. I've forgotten to zip my center section closed (12 pack) after scrambling to clear a court and and having the zipper to my back has kept the content from dumping.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Check out the Volkl bags. Best bags out there, IMO. Real backpack straps that don't swivel and a GREAT shoe compartment.

Shoulder straps are swiveling sling straps. Backpack straps have real padding and do not swivel.

They aren't real backpack straps either--there's barely any padding.

I recently got a Becker bag that has true backpack straps. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to go anywhere and play (it's cold and snowy here in Ohio, and I'm not a member at any local clubs), so I don't have much experience carrying the bag around except walking around my apartment... But they are definitely backpack straps, not the second type you mentioned.

Hmm...which Becker bag is it? I have a friend who has this one:

It's an ok bag, but not as robustly constructed as my old Wilson bag (which has crappier backpack straps than the ancient Wilson bag it replaced.)

The Nike 6 racket bags had real backpack straps. I'll try to post pic.

This Becker bag. (http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Becker_Grand_Slam_Bags/descpageBGVOLKL-BGSBAG6.html)

I haven't gotten the chance to take it anywhere. Seems well-constructed, though. Guess time will tell!

I saw a guy in the same situation with a big bag that has straps in the back ... nice mess when everything goes to the floor :p

did you find his thongs? jk

i find that the pacific bags has some real nice padding on their 6+ racquet bags. feels really true to a backpack as well.
