Has anyone else observed the Lead tape on Del Po's racquet on the front cover of Tennis Magazine? It looks as though he has a similar set up to what pete had for lead tape in terms of length. Let me know what you all think about this.

I believe many Pro's use a similar set up.

As you mentioned, del Potro:

I'm sure there are also others, many are under CAP grommets and such.

I remember someone posted a photo of one of Andy Murray's smashed rackets. You could see a good amount of lead placed under the CAP grommets.....

yeah i think alot of pro's do it too. I have 3 K Blade Tours and I put some lead at 3' and 9' but the strips are only 4 inches long. it looks like delpos as well as others are at least twice that length. Does any one have an opinion as to what would be better; 2 layers of 4 inch lead on both sides of the grommets, or, 1 layer of lead on each side of the grommets at 8 inches. i know that it would prob spread out the area in which the lead would effect but otherwise I really like the lead more concentrated at 3' and 9'. I basically recreated my own PWS

So it became more head heavy? Do they need counterbalance ?

im not sure if they counterbalance, but i did not. my k blade tour is pretty head light so adding 8 grams of lead did not change the balance that much; it sure did change the way the racquet hit though, much more plow through especially on off center or top of the racquet hits. i think that it the only problem with the k blade tour, the lack of pop on off center and top of the racquet hits, but with the lead that is totally taken care of

they all add lots of lead. Even Stepanek adds ton of lead to his racket and his racket is CUSTOM made from scratch....lol

No...it isn't made from scratch. All Bosworth frames are exactly the same to start with. They have a base frame (in multiple colors) that they then customize with lead - the amount and placement of that lead is how they customize it for each client and for Stepanek.

Added about 6 inches of lead tape at the same spot to may Dunlop Aerogel 100and wow, what a difference it makes in stability. Should have done it a long time ago.

on a different note, this is probably one of the best tennis magazine issues i've ever read, pretty much all the articles were great, where I usually skim over most of the stuff I found it all very interesting and engaging.

yeah i thought so too. I especially liked the article about the string tension of various pro's. I could not believe how low Fed strings his racquets at. When you compare that to Pete its like night and day. I wonder why he does it that way?

i would like to hit with that Purestorm ltd racquet, but I'm sure it weighs like 19oz. Insane.
Nobody needs a racquet that heavy, no skill level, no style of play. But that's just my opinion.
