What are the common things that can go wrong when a person does not correctly learn the classic forehand before going on and hitting with the wind shield wiper forehand? Also, if you are a player that generally uses a wind shield wiper forehand are you able to switch back to the classic forehand and hit it effectivly or do you basically forget how to hit the classic forehand and only rely on your ww forehand? Thanks.

Thanks. One danger is that he won't learn to hit the windshield-wiper correctly -- that he'll try to whirl the racket upwards for topspin instead the wiper occurring naturally to slow down a racket that is already rising sharply.

The other danger is that he won't know how to swing correctly when posing for picture to go into a beginner's instruction book. (In the 1960s it was very popular to have books presumably written by top tennis stars demonstrating how to play the game. Of course, it would have been irresponsible for stars to teach their unorthodox techniques to beginners, so you'd see Pancho Gonsales demonstrating the spread-fingers eastern grip he never used in match play, and Rod Laver demonstrating a firm-wristed closed-stance flat forehand unlike the open-stanced continental windshield-wiper [!!!] he usually used. I believe Oscar Wegner had much to say about this phenomenon.)

No relation.
If you hit the ww Fh properly, there is no problem.
