I believe so. The one pictured is a racquet that my mother played with (notice the pink Prince 17g Synthetic Gut) back in the late 80's/early 90's. I hade a teammate back in high school that played with the green version. If I am not mistaken, I think the differences was the composition. The purple one above was a mixture of fiberglass and graphite while (I think) the green one was 100% graphite.

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong here.

Can't even guess how many sets of teal green and purple strings we installed during the early 90s! Most of the early Wimbledons looked good with the popular white strings of the late 80s but when the strings and grips(from Gamma and Babolat) came in matching colors for the frames...WOW! Every other racket got Gamma Gut 3 in teal, Gamma Hi Tec grip in purple...over and over and over!

I played the Eclipse Graphite for a while but it was a bazooka...switched to the Eclipse Expert mid after that...great racket!

I cut out the Prince 17 Syn Gut and put some Babolat SuperFine 16g in it. The handle is either 4-1/8" or 4-1/4". I am going to re-wrap it and give it to my 9 yo son to start hitting with.

I was going to get him something with a smaller head size, but since this was laying around...

Sorry to revive a very old thread but I played the green Wimbledon Eclipse graphite 88 and remember it fondly. Did a quick search and found this thread.

Anyone still have one? Anyone still play it?

The Total was a pretty racket---back during the days of 'pretty' rackets. :)

My then GF switched from the Taxi to the Green Eclipse(WAY too powerful for me) and it suited her smooth, less powerful strokes perfectly, even though it was a bit of a club compared to the Taxi.

I had many a fine match with the Expert 88 ;) .

Earlier, we sold the heck out of the HM 88 and 98 during the 'white racket' boom. I currently have a never-strung Traditional Pro 98--more along the lines of the non-wide-body frames compared to the Eclipse.

no, i don't. i did sell these rackets when they were out (late 80's - early 90's).

the green 88 hit ok, but was part of the new "wide-body" movement.
it wasn''t for me, as were none of the eclipse rackets.

not even sure where i got this one. I did play the All-Pro/GK-98 and i also
liked the midsize graphite/gk-88 of that era.

Yup- the HMs were my first exposure to Wimbledon rackets and were incredibly popular with the long island tennis crowd.

I did and I acquired one recently for nostalgia. Real small grip, like a 4 1/8, though...

I don't have an Eclipse but I have a Traditional...says it's a 98, but measured it's really 102 sq in hitting area. 323 grams, SW is probably about 330 or so...nearly even balnced. He beam is about 18 mm. It says 70-30 graphite/fibreglass for composition, and seems relatively stiff for a thin beam frame.

It's really my wifes, but she doesn't play any, so I used it for 6 months or so before going back to my equally vintage Prince Tricomp 90. Although very different raquets, the relatively higher SW of the Wimbledon suited my game. I went back to the Prince because this one needed a string job, and I quickly got used to the heavier TriComp, and have not gone back.

Haha, my neighbor just gave me one of these while he was moving out. I'd never seen one of them before, but it feels like a solid racquet. Kinda reminds me of the Prince Graphite.

The green eclipse was 100% graphite and was notorious for arm problems as was the HM 98 white racquets during the 80s. Both of which I owned. Wimbledon got it right with the Total Eclipse 88 and 98 although both of those racquets play very differently from each other and they were/are 100% graphite.
