For serves the obvious 1 is hit at cones. If you have 3 players a good consistancy drill is if you have one player on the backhand side the other on the forehand and the last player jumping rope until they hit 40 consecutive balls in between the 2 of them, but NO LOBS.

oh and a coach or someone else has to feed balls to the 2 of you who are both on the same side.

What I do is rent a ball machine and put empty ball cans on the court. You aim for the cans and there you go. Same with the serve, put empty cans on the corners of the box and just serve.

50% of points start with a serve.
50% of points start with a return of serve.
Work on both.
Find a hitting partner with a good serve to practice your returns against.

If you are struggling on a groundstoke because of timing and not being consistant in your point of contact, hitting against a backboard will help. The backboard will not help in depth and placement.

If you are struggling with a particular weakness, like hitting high backhands, practice hundreds of these. If you can't afford a coach to feed you and don't have a practice partner, a ball machine can feed you.

1. Practice Serve - emphasizing on placement first. Pace second.
2. Practice Serve and hitting the ball after opponent has return your serve. You must learn how to quick to set up the next shot after the serve. This include what you need to do when opponent attack your second serve. Even what to do when the return serve lands shorts to the net.
3. Practice return

4. work on sustaining long rallys. You must develop to be patience - you will plays guys who are pusher or counter punchers. Loosing patience forces you to over hit or increase your error by trying to change direction quickly.
5. work on identifying when to change direction - basically learn strategy. when to bait /build your game to your advance.
