View Full Version : Not enough string for a full mains job...

I've got 2 sets of SPPP, and I'd really like to get 4 hybrid jobs done w/ them. I saw a pic/thread once that showed one of Agassi's jobs where the mains were Kevlar except for the first and last main, and the crosses were something else and the end mains. Would there be any complications for stringing like that? And where would you start and end the crosses?

If you're using a LM Radical OS (or any Radical OS), you can still hybrid with a short set of strings for the mains. I did this by tying off the 2nd to last mains on each side on the top of the hoop. I then tied off the string used for the cross on the bottom, ran up one side for the last main and start weaving the crosses from the top (the other last main won't be done until you do all the cross strings). At the bottom I rounded the corner again and weaved the last main string on the other side, enlarged a hole on top to tie it off (since the top of the racquet only has 2 default tie holes and you need 3 to do this method). I guess it's called a "box pattern" and they had to do it for Agassi's racquets because he was using a custom 20x21 patterned Radical and for some reason his stringers thought doing that way was the best.

I posted pics of what I did it here:
