How important are clamps in stringing machine... obviously it is important but i would notice that sometimes my clamp would be kind of shifting or sliding ... and i counter that by really tightening it.. but wondering if good clamps don't really need hard clamping and is easy on the hands...

Other question is.. if i'm in hurry and i don't clamp it as tight on each pass and see some sliding etc... how much tension do you think gets lost? I like low tension so i'ts not a problem..

What do you mean by shifting or sliding? Like when you release the tension head your clamp relaxes back some? That's normal.

As for sliding, I think its more important to have a constant tension throughout your whole racquet. A racquet with varying lbs will not play well, imho.

If the string is sliding slighting, you are probably losing 5lbs or more tension.
