Small leather pieces which help eliminate sharp radius for stringing.
Yep its a prop as they showed that same racquet in the Rafa Ivo match.

Exactly, It's a prop left there that shows up everytime they use a certain camera angle or 2. Sometimes there's an AO tennis ball under the strings.

that's not a fed racquet, it's just a blx90 they put in front of the camera to promote Wilsons BLX line. They're a big sponsor in the Australian Open.

They seem to cut to them here when eurosport goto an ad break.Model changes depending who plays though i've noticed.

The funny thing is that during one of the mens matches, they cut to the 'prop shot' too soon and you could see a phantom hand still in the shot placing an AO ball next to the racket.

I think they just put the wilson blx racquet to advertise and make it look nice and artcy on tv. I remembered couple day ago they did the same thing!

Part of me thinks this is a thing with sports broadcasting down under, whenever I watch cricket on a Nine broadcast they tend to show a view from the boundary looking across the playing field with something like a cricket ball in the foreground.
