I rolled up some black hockey tape into a tight rectangle... about 8-10 tight folds, less than 1/2 inch in width... trimmed and cut 2 neat/clean power pads... then repeated to make more. The finish product looks nice and clean looking. I also just cut some natural leather (which i normally use) and some black synthetic grip into little squares for power pads...

Do you think the hockey tape will work? Will it compress too much under tension? Will it even dampen the vibrations?

They will be placed in the yolk/bridge of an AK90. i'm sure it will look good ;)

I'm sure it'll work. I've also seen someone use overgrips and I've used a thick rubberband

really the play and feel is not that different (vs leather power pads) maybe, just maybe a little more muted... fun, little experiment though.

what is the difference in playability between a racket with power pads and one without them???

I'm curious about this myself. Do "power" pads actually give you more power by allowing the strings to flex a little more? Or are they merely for vibration?
