View Full Version : What's the real strung weight of Yonex Ti-80?
I have seen it in different places as 12.1 or 11.6 ounces, can anyone weigh one for me? Thanks

The strung weight is 12.1oz if you get a 4 1/2 or 4 5/8 grip. For a relatively heavy racket, the racket swings light. Personally I think it needs at least 6 grams of lead tape in the hoop.
So, its one of those cases where the smaller grips weigh less? I remember that about the Yonex, but I thought they moved away from that with some of the latest models. Thanks for the reply.
The 6 grams in the head can be said for pretty much any racquet with SW less than 320, I guess. :)
Oh, and how is the serve? I noticed that some Yonex racquets either make or break your serve. As in they either enhance it (noticed this with the Super RD Tour MP), or slow it (noticed it with the RDX 500 MP).

I wouldn't say the Ti80 provides free power on serves, but since it swings very fast, you can hit big serves quite easily. If you have a slower swing on serve, then the Ti80 isn't going to do much on serves.

I tried one that is 4 3/8...it was about 11.6-11.8 oz.
It is rumored that the 4 1/2 and higher grips are heavier with Yonex racquets, but I haven''t seen any consistency to that...I have 3 Yonex MP Tour-5's...2 are 4 3/8, and one of them weighs 11.3 and the other weighs 11.6 stock...the 4 1/2 one is also 11.3
