I just got a new SP lite.
1) Should I recharge when the battery runs out, or after every session?
2) What if I only use it for 30 minutes? Should I still top it off when I get home?

I have an SP Star FWIW.

In the Edge (Lite/Star) series owner's manual it says:

3. When properly cared for, the internal battery that powers the machine has a life span of 3 to 5 years, after which it needs to be replaced. Care for your battery by stopping play when speed drops, recharging the battery as soon as practical, and keeping it topped up. AC-powered machines do not have an internal battery.

I plug mine up when I get back from the court. Number one it follows the manufacturer recommendation and number 2 it will be ready to go next time. I am trying to avoid my experience with didgital cameras that everytime I go to use one the batteries are dead!

Yep. I have a SP lite and plug it in after every use. Keeps it ready to go and follows what is in the instructions.
