Why most of the pros don't use dampeners?
Specially in racquets like the kblade and the prestiges..
Do they have other dampening mechanisms (are powerpads a dampening system?)?

I can't understand because i never heard the ping sound coming from a pro racquet.

I use Dunlop Mfil and Aero 200's. Makes no difference dampenered or not, there's no wierd vibrations or any "ping" sound. 52-62lbs.
My LMRad 98 can use a vib dampener.
My Heat 98 can use one.
My Prince OS T sticks don't need them, ever, strung at 72lbs.

Because most either use powerpads, which are a dampening system, or they use gut...

I thought most pros used polys these days.

Yes, but they hybrid with gut, which dampens vibrations...

I think because that gives them better feedback. It's all up to personal preference really. Many do while many don't.

yes powerpads is one kind of dampening system

Not many pros use powerpads....

I think because they have alot of weigh added, the feel is dampened enough so they don't need a dampener

To sum it up, it's 3 reasons for that : 1.They need more feel and feedback.
2. About 80% play with heavy over 13 oz racquets, so no need for them.
3. Their racquets come from manufacturers with individual grommets instead of the grommet strips that they sell in stock, which apparently really dampens.

The pros that usually use all poly use a dampener.

Re the top 10, 6 out of 10 use some form of dampening:

1. Fed, power pads
2. Djo "falcon" dampener
3.Rafa Bab dampener
4. Murray nothing
5.Delpo dampener
6. Davydenko dampener
7. Soderling nothing
8. Roddick rubber band
9.Cilic nothing
10. Gonzo nothing

I used to use the Bab dampener but got tired of it flying out all of the time. I went cold turkey for a few days back in 07 and never looked back. I will admit that the first few days the noise drove me crazy but now I really like to feel the strings. I guess with full poly, you need all the feel you can get :)

Because dampeners were a silly fad that is disappearing.

IMO of course...

Individual grommets..? So for every hole in the racket, they put in 1 grommet? Pics?
