On special occasions (birthday, christmas, wedding day ..) I use gut (Bab, Dunlop, Others) in my POG mids.

They mostly survive 10 hrs. of beating (singles).

I use string savers 6x6 in the middle.

I moisturize with olive oil and cut the frays with a nail cutter.

Question is : When gut looses tension in wet (H2O) environments, why not in oily environments ?

I am not convinced that "the oil is natural and it is in the gut already" avoids the gut from loosing tension.

Any thoughts ?

Define an oily environment...are you talking about humidity?

Oil doesn't keep gut from losing tension, it keeps it from drying out and fraying more. I use baby oil on freshly strung natural gut, and periodically on full gut jobs. Gut doesn't cause them to lose tension either. Sometimes I wonder how all these myths got started.

relax its gut. Its tougher most man-made material strings.
