With the tourney´s in Casablanca and Houston the Clay Court Season begins.
who will dominate?
Or will there actually be a domination?
i´m going with :

1.Rafael Nadal
2.Roger Federer
3.JMDP
4.Marin Cilic
5.Juan Carlos Ferrero.

as the best players on clay this year.

Andy Roddick - because predicting the future is just too hard these days. The top 5 are in general disarray right now and each tourney is a crapshot for who will make it to the semis.

Rafa has been the most consistent player on tour this year. His only loss to a player not ranked in the top 6 was Ljubicic, who also beat Djoker and Roddick.

On clay, guys like Davy, Murray and even to an extent Djokovic dont have the game to beat Rafa. Look for another 2 Masters titles

Nadal will win at least one, probably two, and possibly even all three clay Masters titles. He's also a big favourite for Roland Garros. That's not to say he'll dominate the clay season though.

Last year he won two clay masters and made the final of the third. Roger won one clay masters and RG. Roger had the best season on clay, but he clearly didn't dominate. I think for someone to dominate the season they need to win RG and at least two of the masters titles. Nadal is the only player who can do that IMO.

Nadal of course.

People voting for Roddick need their heads checked. Nadal is the obvious choice, he is the favorite to win RG, then Federer, Del Potro, Djokovic and Murray. I will be shocked if anyone apart from these five win RG this year.

Last clay season Federer was the best, and Roddick won more sets against him on the surface than Nadal :).

This is a rather funny thought.

Federer and Nadal.

Nadal will not dominate all the clay court events.

Cilic isn't even playing well on HC right now I think he'll do pretty mediocre until grass at least.

I think Rafa will be back to utter domination, JCF and Thomaz Bellucci will get some big wins also, maybe Almagro.

Nadal will do okay, I think JCF will do well, as well Djo, Davy, and Ferrer. I say Federer doing poorly.

This may be just me, but I feel that, like last year, clay will be good to Roger. I feel one of the reasons why he is making so many UE's is that his shotmaking ability is down. On clay, he can sit back a bit more, use his sublime movement and blocking techniques to his advantage

Robin Soderling has been playing really nice lately plus he had a good run at the French last year. I think it's going to be him and Nadal.

Nadal or nobody.

Does anyone know when Del Potro is coming back? The guy played well in roland gaross last year, should be interesting to see him.

Gotta be Rafa. I think he's 'catching fire' at precisely the right time for him to go on and sweep everyone else aside on clay.

I can't see Andy Roddick on this poll and then not vote for him.

Who is voting for Murray? Has the guy ever made a clay court final?

PSNELKE
04-01-2010, 08:30 AM
no but he made it to the semis at monte carlo and to the quarters at madrid last year.
And he made it to the quarters of the French Open with a win over Cilic who won the Junior French Open.
I think he showed some improvement on clay last year but I don´t think that he
will play a role for the clay court season, too.

Picked Nadal but I have a "feeling" that we might see Murray make a move.
Hope the Scott can do it.

Expect Andy Murray to surprise!

And I mean that seriously. Clay is the one surface where he has so much room for improvement, but is still able to eek out results 90% of the clay-court specialist world would love (SF Monte Carlo, QF French Open). If he keeps on improving year-to-year, he'll be a Top 5 clay player. I think he'll pick up his first clay title this year (if he plays a 250 ).

Every other surface he is a hopeless pusher, though.

I agree his style and fitness might propel him on the clay. Going to be rooting 4 him big time!
