after the tournament offered him a Wild Card. Just announced it on his facebook.

In my opinion, good decision. He needs to win some matches!

Murray got to the semis last year in Monte Carlo and his form since the Australian Open has been mediocre. He'll be under a bit of pressure.

Fed should too.

Good decision to play. Whether he'll win win matches is another thing.

Ha ha, true! I'm going to go ahead and say it would be hard for him to play worse than he did in Miami though, so I'm putting him down to win at least one match. No but seriously, I hope he finds a bit of a groove again.

Smart idea. He could fall to 5 again if hes not carefull. And hes competent enough on clay to earn some key points.

Why would he need a wildcard? Doesn't he always play MC?

He originally pulled out. MC is not mandatory.

Monte Carlo is non mandatory. His name was not on the original entry list, thus he requires a WC. Fed did the same thing last year

I think clay will be good for Murray. Longer points will help him get his rhythm back. I don't know about you guys, but when Fed, Rafa, Djokovic and Murray are underperforming, I usually do not find the final matches to be interesting. There's just no suspense prior to those clashes, no excitement at all.

Strongly believe Murray will be a serious contender this year on clay. Think he will surprise a lot of people.

I wonder if Federer will play Monte Carlo as well?

Intelligent choice from Muzzy. Wish it was still mandatory, though it is an interesting story

Why is Fed not playing this?

They get a week worth of rest anyway.

Well, i do not actually think he'll do well there...last year it was Murrays prime and he reached SF, i do not see him beating the likes of Ferrer, Ferrero, Nadal, Verdasco or even Djokovic.

I'm not surprised he will be playing. Even without a wildcard he would be seeded. The question on my mind is will Murray play WELL in Monte Carlo?

I agree, as a tennis fan, people shouldn't be holding so tightly to their "lovers" that they forget tennis is a sport, and as such unpredictable. It's amazing how the actual sport of tennis gets lost on so many people.

Good for the game. Gives us a reason to watch Monte Carlo. :)

Murray is lucky that Del Potro and Davydenko are both out or he could have slipped to 6 or 7 in the world.

On the monte carlo official site, Del Potro's name is listed as one of the participants. Wonder if he'll pull out.

Davy is probably out until Wimby. Don't know about JMDP.

I hope Del Potro recovers quickly and starts playing well again during the clay court season.
