My nutritionist has warned me about consuming protien shakes being imported from the united states on the basis that they may contain hidden subtances, which may be detected as banned in a urine test. I just wanted to know what procedures are in place, and can brands such as PVL and Designer Whey be trusted (these are the shakes which I consume). I was seriously considering a move to the local brand, Musashi, but was again hesitant as I heard about them having a case brought against them eight years ago, for selling a placebo.

What are the hidden nasties that can be presented in these shakes? What are the best brands to consider? and what methods would be in place to ensure thier quality? so much uncertainty surrounds these products, I'm seem to be very confused.

Nothing wrong with protein the old fashioned way.... Meat, lots and lots of meat.
And a few of the greens. Spinach and steak. very very good.

The more natural you keep your body, the better.

the best solution is to eat regular food. it is healthier because you won't get as much excess protein and you won't risk having to eat stuff that you don't want
