View Full Version : Stringbed stiffness vs. String tension

If you were to measure a 10% drop in stringbed stiffness over time, would that indicate a 10% drop in tension over that time? If not, is there a formula or numerical correlation? Or do you use a chart?

Currently there is no reliable way to measure string tension in a strung racquet, termed the actual tension. And the only device that's even pretended to it in the past (and has since given up this claim), the Stringmeter and its clone, measures that mechanically, string by string. Hence the only available use of the Stringmeter and the many machines that now measure stringbed stiffness is to track tension loss (or to identify optimum playing "tension", for lack of a better word). You could carry out a correlation between stringbed stiffness and Stringmeter tension, though what use it would have I couldn't tell you.
